All about me

I am a graphic designer by profession and started as an office junior work in a design and photography studio in Bournemouth in 1981, were I previously did a work experience from school for a few weeks. I was intending going to college to learn all about botanical illustration but was offered a full time job working in at the studio. I never went to Art College so everything I had learnt in the past was at school. After many years working there I decided to go self employed as a freelance designer which lasted 3 years and was offered a job in a large advertising agency. After various design jobs me and my wife had the chance to travel around America for two months so I took the opportunity and went. When I came back I had to go freelance again but soon found work. I have been Freelance ever since and presently working part time at a school teaching GCSE photography passing on my knowledge of photography and photoshop.
Working in all the different studios is were I picked up all my inspiration and techniques seeing other artists work as well as other freelancers bringing in their portfolios and showing their own work.

This has led onto all the art I am doing to this day and thoroughly enjoying ……still
One thing………..My main ambition…………this would be to take this latest style and do an exhibition from my diary and sketches of my two months in America when me and my with travel about 4,000 miles…..yes in two months.

I have countless photos to work from and still have my diary for every day.

I have been regularly entering the international artist magazine competition over the years but never winning anything. My work got the attanetion of the publisher who wanted to do an article as they publish work from all over the world they need artists from various countries

The pictures of the river frome in dorset were done from photos and some sketches. I love the area because it's so tranquil and the thought of people travelling up and down the river doing their day to day business in such a tranquil environment makes me feel good

Above is one of a few rougher pictures painted onto shinny paper using acrylic. I just wanted to see how the effect looks as a whole picture and then did two others to see how it looks as a group

I think I will do some more but am putting all my efforts into newer work for 2011

Pictures of Dorset

On the left is one of the competitions i entered into last year for seascpes and rivers. I didn't get anywhere with the pictures but they are a nice addition to the collection of dorset landscape paitings I now have
