All about me
I am a graphic designer by profession and started as an office junior work in a design and photography studio in Bournemouth in 1981, were I previously did a work experience from school for a few weeks. I was intending going to college to learn all about botanical illustration but was offered a full time job working in at the studio. I never went to Art College so everything I had learnt in the past was at school. After many years working there I decided to go self employed as a freelance designer which lasted 3 years and was offered a job in a large advertising agency. After various design jobs me and my wife had the chance to travel around America for two months so I took the opportunity and went. When I came back I had to go freelance again but soon found work. I have been Freelance ever since and presently working part time at a school teaching GCSE photography passing on my knowledge of photography and photoshop.
Working in all the different studios is were I picked up all my inspiration and techniques seeing other artists work as well as other freelancers bringing in their portfolios and showing their own work.
This has led onto all the art I am doing to this day and thoroughly enjoying ……still
One thing………..My main ambition…………this would be to take this latest style and do an exhibition from my diary and sketches of my two months in America when me and my with travel about 4,000 miles…..yes in two months.
I have countless photos to work from and still have my diary for every day. |

The picture to the right was used in the article for the international artist magazine and was then given to a friend as a gift.
It was so well liked that she commissioned to do another one larger for her lounge in their house in Lyme Regis. I gave them a couple of choices to choice but the harbour picture was the best one to start with.

The pictures below are the various stages of one of the pictures as entered into the competition a few months ago. I am using the new style as seen in the international magazine much more as I am getting so much in the way of positive feedback and everyone has a different opinion of what the style is.
This is one of the main reasons for doing this style in the first place. I want people to see different things in the art as well as appeal to different people in different ways. Some people like the bright colours were as others light the subject matter and the way it's fragmented to make it look abstract |
