All about me

I am a graphic designer by profession I started as an office junior working in a design and photography studio in Bournemouth in 1981, from where I previously did work experience from school for a few weeks. I was intending going to college to learn all about botanical illustration, however was offered a full time job working in the studio. I never went to Art College so everything I have learnt in the past was at school. After many years in the studio I decided to go self employed as a freelance designer and from that work was offered a job in a large advertising agency. After a few years in advertising my wife and I had the chance to travel around America for two months and I took the opportunity to discover America. Upon returning from our travels I decided to go back to being freelance again and soon found work and I have been Freelance ever since. At present I am working part time, as well as Freelance, at a school teaching GCSE photography , where I am able to pass on my knowledge of photography and photoshop to the next generation.

I found a lot of my inspiration and techniques from working in different studios and watching and speaking to other artists about their.

My years of experience in Design and Illustration has led onto the artwork I am doing at present and which I am thoroughly enjoying.

I would say that one of my main ambitions would be to take this latest style of painting and hold an exhibition from my diary and sketches of my time in America when my wife and I travel about 4,000 miles in two months. I have countless photos and my diary from every day of our travels to work from.
Over the last two years I have painted several pictures of monkeys taken from Monkey World, Dorset which I have donated to them for various events held by them and which has helped to raise funds for their charity. I am continuing to support their charity with my donations of artwork (which can be viewed on the website).

I have been regularly entering the international artist magazine competition over the years but never winning anything. My work got the attanetion of the publisher who wanted to do an article as they publish work from all over the world they need artists from various countries

The pictures of the river frome in dorset were done from photos and some sketches. I love the area because it's so tranquil and the thought of people travelling up and down the river doing their day to day business in such a tranquil environment makes me feel good

Above is one of a few rougher pictures painted onto shinny paper using acrylic. I just wanted to see how the effect looks as a whole picture and then did two others to see how it looks as a group

I think I will do some more but am putting all my efforts into newer work for 2011
